SUMMARY:Together With Veterans Coffee Club June 4\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:Together With Veterans (TWV) – Cambria County is a local\, veteran suicide prevention coalition. Research has shown the more disconnected a veteran is from their community\, the more at risk they may be to depression and suicidal ideology. We meet and hold events as an opportunity for veterans to get together\, share their stories\, or simply spend time together! Our Coffee Club meets and provides free coffee for any veteran who attends. It’s an opportunity for the platoon to get together and learn about possible benefits and resources available to them and their families. \nTogether With Veterans – Cambria County’s Veterans Coffee Club is meeting June 4 from 8-10am at Corner Coffee Shop. Coffee is on us!

SUMMARY:Cambria County TWV Meet and Greet\, QPR Training
DESCRIPTION:TWV Meet and Greet : 10:00 am – 11:00 am \nJoin us at Sankertown VFW Post 7377 for a meet and greet with Together with Veterans Cambria County. TWV’s mission is to advocate\, educate\, and spread awareness of the tools in recognizing self-harming and suicidal behaviors\, and to equip our communities with the resources available to promote interconnectedness within our rural regions. \nQPR Training : 11:00 am – 12:30 pm \nQPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. \nJust as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question\, persuade\, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans\, like you\, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend\, colleague\, sibling\, or neighbor. QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour. \nQPR is sponsored by the Cambria County Suicide Prevention Task Force.

SUMMARY:2025 CCCITP Craft Show and Basket Party Fundraiser Benefiting the Veterans Monument Wall Project
DESCRIPTION:  \nVeteran Community Initiatives\, Inc. (VCI) is pleased to support the Central City Veterans Monument Wall Project\, a project in which funds are being raised to restore the tank and monument walls that have been dedicated to Veterans as far back as the Civil War era. \nThe tank and walls that have been historically placed in the middle of Central City many years ago have accumulated wear and tear over being exposed to the elements and public use. The names of Veterans\, especially those of the Civil War era\, are now close to being illegible. In response\, local community members have come together to raise awareness and host fundraisers to restore the tank and walls using new\, weather- and wear-resistant materials in a collective effort that will preserve this dedicated memorial space for generations to come. \nPlease consider joining Central City Christmas in the Park group\, Central City VFW Post 7457\, VCI\, and other local organizations in this important project to pay tribute to and honor our military members past and present. \nBasket donations can be left at the Central City Borough Office (314 Central Avenue\, Suite 201\, Central City\, PA 15926) Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Special arrangements for pick up can be made by contacting Tanya Campbell at (814) 242-8369 or Jen Jarvis at (814) 248-6195. \nTicket prices are as follows: \n\n$10 / first sheet (includes 26 tickets)\n$5 / additional sheets\nHigh Value Baskets: 3 tickets for $5\n\nFood\, crafts\, and vendor items available for purchase separately. \nMonetary donations can be made by check or PayPal. Please make checks payable to “Christmas in the Park”. PayPal donations can be directed to www.PayPal.me/christmasinthepark. \nThe basket party fundraiser will be held on Saturday\, March 15th and Sunday\, March 16th at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Central City from 9 am to 4 pm both days. SUMMARY:Johnstown Veterans Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Johnstown’s annual 28th Veterans Day Parade\, hosted by the Conemaugh Valley Veterans\, will exhibit various local Veteran Service Organizations\, school districts\, floats\, military vehicles\, and volunteers right downtown! This year\, the theme of the parade is celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFWs). For more information about this anniversary and the history of VFWs\, click here. \nA new addition to this parade is the Ditko Division\, whose namesake is carried on by Johnstown native\, Steve Ditko. Ditko\, a U.S. Army Veteran and American comics artist and writer best known as artist and creator of the Marvel superheroes Spider-Man and Doctor Strange\, passed away in 2018. In honor of his legacy through the comics industry\, the city has two murals on display. \nIf you are interested in visiting these murals or learning more about Ditko’s history\, go to Visit Johnstown or click here. \nAdditionally\, “Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko: Superhero of Johnstown” gives a brief overview of the invested work and community involvement put into the murals\, led by Matt Lamb\, Creative Director of the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center. \nWe would love to continue this effort of public recognition through merging the arts\, Veteran community\, and members at large by opening parade participation to folks of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers can join the Ditko Division as Spiderman or other Marvel/comic book character. RSVPs are encouraged\, but not necessary. Please consider joining us in costume or in spirit! Call (814) 255-0355 or email Parade Coordinator\, Josh Hauser\, at hauserj@vciinc.org to sign up today. \nA Flag Raising Ceremony will be held at Central Park at the conclusion of the parade. We hope that you will consider attending\, whether as a parade enthusiast or participant\, family member\, Veteran\, Veteran supporter\, or community member at large. Thank you for your ongoing support of this event! \nFor sponsorship information\, donation questions\, or general inquiries\, please contact Josh Hauser or call our our office.
