Daughters of the American Revolution Quilt Fundraiser
JOHNSTOWN, PA, July 14, 2025 – Veteran Community Initiatives, Inc. (VCI) is pleased to announce its collaboration with the Joseph Schantz Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) through a Quilt Fundraiser, a project in which funds are being raised to support VCI and the 2026 Vietnam Era Veterans Recognition Day Ceremony in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Connie Kostelnik, retired Veteran nurse of the Vietnam era, member of DAR, and Nanty Glo resident, donated a 90’ by 90’ handmade quilt showcasing patriotic colors and landmarks in Cambria County and Somerset County to raise funds for local Veterans. Half of the proceeds will be donated to VCI while the other half will be specifically allocated to the annual Vietnam Era Veterans Recognition Day Ceremony by the DAR’s Schantz Chapter. The Recognition Ceremony highlights the sacrifices and contributions of local military members in Cambria and Somerset counties each year since 2017.
Tickets are being sold by DAR members and the VCI office for $3.00 per ticket or 2 for $5.00. The drawing for this donated quilt will be held on Tuesday, November 11th following the Johnstown Veterans Day Parade. Tickets will be sold up until Veterans Day.
Monetary donations can be made by cash or check. Please make checks payable to “DAR Joseph Schantz Chapter”. If you are interested in purchasing by mail, please contact the VCI office by calling (814) 255-0355.
