Our area’s 9th Annual Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day event will take place on Friday, March 27 from 9am-12:30pm at the Masonic Event and Conference Center located at 130 Valley Pike Johnstown, PA 15905. Veterans of all eras and the community are welcome to attend. There will be a ceremony at 10am to honor the 105 individuals from Cambria and Somerset County who were lost during the Vietnam War. Brig. Gen. Frank McGovern, Assistant Adjutant General of the Pennsylvania National Guard will serve as the guest speaker. Various organizations that offer benefits and resources to veterans and their families will have tables at the event, to include personnel from the Altoona VA Medical Center. The event is sponsored by Veteran Community Initiatives, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 263, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2, Conemaugh Valley Veterans, and the Joseph Schantz Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
